The workshop focuses on developing 360 degree leadership, practical and effective leadership strategies, Friend Raising & Stewardship, Outreach & Diversity, Legal Concerns & accountability, Engaging & motivating colleagues & staff, Managing up and managing down, Developing and communicating vision, and the job search process.

Increase Your Impact by Becoming an Academic Leader
The objective of the Academic Leadership Training (ALT) Workshop is to train the next generation of academic leaders by providing them with tools, connections and skills to be successful in advancing the teacher-scholar model among their faculties and colleagues. Academic leaders are research center directors, department heads, college deans, etc. Participants in the workshop are expected to be researchers in the fields of chemistry, physics or astrophysics, broadly defined.
 
The application process for the 2025 ALT Workshop is now open. The $2200 registration fee covers:
  • Two nights of lodging at the workshop hotel
  • A 360-degree feedback evaluation (a > $400 value!)
  • Meals at the workshop
  • Access to facilitators and experienced academic leaders
  • Workshop Materials
Scholarships of up to $1000 will be available to subsidize participants in financial need.
